Ricky Van Veen's GET EXCITED

May 18, 2008

Ricky’s Quickies: Movie ReviewMan From Plains
A two hour documentary that follows Jimmy Carter around the country for two months as he promotes his new book “Palestine: Peace not Apartheid.”
Though there’s no solid narrative driving the documentary, it does allow you to get to know Carter up close and personally. Not knowing much about the former president, I came out very impressed with him. He knows a lot about a variety of things and isn’t afraid to speak his mind. Case in point, most public figures wouldn’t write a book about the Israel/Palestine conflict, because even acknowledging that there are two sides to the issue usually gets you labeled as an anti-semite before you even put pen to paper.
To see Carter simply using reason and logic in discussions got me excited for Obama, who I believe will do the same. At least compared to the current administration.
